Treatment of Anxiety and Depression
Depression is a serious condition that can worsen and snowball, if proper medical attention is not received early enough. Anxiety can increase symptoms of depression and create a spiraling effect in someone who has depression.
There are varying symptoms of anxiety and depression. Some symptoms can be experienced with both. Common signs of anxiety are: tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, sweaty palms, and racing heartbeat. Likewise, common symptoms of depression are: feeling overwhelmed, tightness in the chest, wanting to retreat and hide from everyone you know, and a feeling of hopelessness.
There are many types of treatment for anxiety and depression. If you suffer from a deep depression that prevents you from being able to perform the simplest of everyday tasks, or if it causes you to retreat from your family and friends, you should seek professional medical attention immediately.
For the most part, patients with serious depression can be treated with medication. They often return to a normal life. There are side effects to taking such medication, of course. Sometimes sleepiness, drowsiness and dizziness can occur with some depression and anxiety medicine.
There are also home remedies and natural remedies that can be used to treat mild forms of anxiety and depression. Bear in mind that these remedies only work on the mildest forms of these illnesses and should not be considered an end-all treatment if you have a more serious condition.
Some simple ways you can reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression are as follows:
· Reduce tension in your home.
· Delegate repetitive tasks.
· Exercise regularly.
· Eat healthy (eliminate all junk food, sodas, etc. from your daily diet).
· Plan ahead.
· Ask other family members for help.
· Get out once a week by yourself.
