Keeping A Positive Attitude
Keeping a positive attitude can be challenging at times.
Samantha, a big-time corporate executive, hired a personal assistant to make her life easier. For the first 2 weeks, Amanda came in early, eager to work for her new boss. On week three though, Amanda's true colors started to show.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Amanda was thirty minutes late. Not only was she late, but she arrived with a wad of bubble gum in her mouth. Samantha decided to overlook Amanda's tardiness.
Over the course of the following weeks, Amanda's work ethics went from bad to worse. As it turned out, Amanda typed by hunt-and-peck method, instead of the 75 wpm she'd boasted of on her application. Her telephone manners were horrible and she single-handedly managed to drive away three of Samantha's best clients.
Trying her best to remain calm, Samantha called Amanda into the office for a talk. During Samantha's lecture about Amanda's horrible manners and terrible work ethics, Amanda constantly rolled her eyes, popped her tongue and stared out the window.
Samantha felt her blood pressure rising. The veins on the sides of her neck pumped with every heartbeat and she felt her cheeks flush as she grew more an more angry by the moment.
She finally stopped in mid-sentence and drew in a deep breath. Amanda looked up from her nail inspection. Samantha smiled at Amanda and said, "You're fired."
Moral of the story: Keeping a positive attitude will make you feel better in the end.
