How Journaling Can Reduce Your Stress

August 6, 2008

Keeping a journal is a great way to express yourself freely with no worries about how it will affect someone else. Stress affects all of us in some manner. But how we handle stress on an individual level is another story. That’s why you need a way to reduce your stress in a productive way.

If you have been under a great amount of stress, you can reduce that stress with journaling. Here are just a few ways that journaling can help reduce stress in your life:

· Journaling can help you pinpoint the source of your stress. If you’ve felt stressed out, but wasn’t really sure what you were stressed out about, journaling can help you. When you can identify what is causing you undue stress, you can then figure out how to eliminate that source of stress.

· Journaling reminds you of what’s important in your life. Sometimes the reason for our stress is simply because we’ve forgotten about all the little things in life: family, home, friends, church. Keeping a journal will help you remember to appreciate all these little things that are so easily overlooked.

· Journaling can help you see how far you’ve come over a period of time. It’s hard to imagine that you’ve experienced any personal growth when all you feel is stress from every side. As you progress in your journaling, take a few minutes to look back every couple of months at your journal entries. You’ll most likely be surprised to discover how much you’ve grown over time.

Positive Quotes

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
