Find The Rainbow

rainbow

When you are in the midst of a storm, it isn’t so keep a positive frame of mind. Instead, if you are like most of us, your thought process becomes shorted and you focus on

why doesn’t he love me like he used to?
how could she do that to me?
i’m such a failure
this world would be better off without me in it

Ever had one of those moments?

And when you are down in that valley, it’s really hard to pick yourself up. Wallowing in that muck feels right, easy, livable. If you aren’t careful, a brief wallow turns into a mini vacation, which turns into a tent-pitching ceremony, until finally you decide to build yourself a lean-to and set up permanent residence there.

You have to snap out of it!

Despite how incredibly worthless you might feel in that moment, you are the only one that can pick yourself up and move forward. Sure, it’s much easier to roll around in the mud of pity and loneliness. But does it really feel good? Aren’t you beginning to feel icky from all those horrible, negative feelings?

Look for the beauty.

To find the rainbow while you’re in the middle of a storm, you have to look up. The only way your eyes will spot that beautiful prism of hope, you have to raise your chin and look up. The problems in your life are still there, but you don’t have to keep your head down and your mind focused only on them. Lift your mind and thoughts to a higher place. Rise above the negative energy you’ve been dwelling in and look for something good.

Hold fast to the promise.

Do you remember what rainbows represent? Noah and his family were on the ark with all those smelly animals for a long time. I can’t even begin to imagine how horrid the smell alone must have been. It must have been incredibly difficult to bear those conditions for that long. But in the end, God placed a bow in the sky as a promise to Noah, and generations to come, that He would never flood the earth in such a manner again.

Has there been a commitment or promise broken that hurts your heart? Remember God’s promises and hold fast to them. When you can do this, you will be encouraged and remember that not everything in this life is bad. You can make it!
